Green light for F1 in America

An American team has been given the go ahead by the FIA for a 2015 entry onto the grid.

After HRT had to withdraw from Formula One back at the end of the 2012 season, F1 has been left with 11 teams but the potential for a twelfth. Now, providing they can stay around, come 2015 an American team owned by Gene Haas will be in F1.

Gene Haas already co-owns a team in Nascar and jumped at the chance to have a F1 team, and today the FIA officially accepted his entry for the 2015 season.

This isn’t the first time an American team has been granted entry for Formula One. Back when HRT, Marussia and Caterham had their entries accepted there was also an American team by the name of USF1 but ran out of money, resulting in them failing to get the team onto the grid.

But now the hard work begins for Gene Haas as he will need to get his team ready and begin plans on the car before the 2015 season comes around. But can this American F1 team make it in F1? And will they be able to get a point? Only time will tell.
